About Me

I'm originally from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, a suburb of Milwaukee but have come to call a number of cities "home" over the years, including Madison, Wisconsin, Quito, Ecuador, Champaign, Illinois and Moscow, Russia. From an early age, my parents instilled in me a love of travel, storytelling and the importance of cultivating an active imagination.

In my free time, I enjoy any and all creative pursuits, including reading (mainly fiction and historical non-fiction), writing (creative and blogging), drawing, watching movies, doodling, taking pictures, listening to and playing music and dancing. I love science fiction in all its forms and would love to be able to visit space sometime during my life. I've always dreamed, with much excitement, about meeting a being from another planet. I think this dream inspires my love of and facsination with learning about, interacting with and living among different cultures.

I am a die-hard Green Bay Packers and USMNT fan. If I were given three wishes, I would use them: 1) to live in a world where money was irrelevant, 2) to have the wisdom of an 80 year old (who's lived a good and full life) in the body of a 22 year old and 3) to eat pizza as a way to diet/gain muscle. I put Frank's Red Hot on everything.

I try and maintain a positive attitude about all things and use humor to help achieve this goal. I've adopted my father's mantra that, "...a day without laughter is a day lost." I love meeting new people and want to use my life to see as much of this amazing world (with my own eyes) as possible.

Most recently, this desire had me living and working Russia as part of a 10 month English Language Fellowship (through the U.S. Department of State and Georgetown University). If you're interested in my impressions of life, travel and teaching EFL in Russia, check out my fellowship blog, "A Moscow Fellow".
